The Royal Oak is an Award winning real ale pub in the Roman city of Bath. Closed some years ago, this pub seemed destined to die, but it rose from the ashes to become a real beer haven. In 2010 Chris Powell became the Landlord, having been the manager for several years prior to that. It has won several awards in the last few years including 4 Camra Awards.
There are three regular ales from our in house Brewery Ralph's Ruin together with Downton Chimera IPA and guest beers from microbreweries, near and far, In addition to the real Ales there is always an equally interesting range of ciders, perries and bottled British and Belgian beers. And for those who fancy a more conventional brew there is always Budvar, Erdinger and Guinness.
It is safe to say that the independent nature of the Royal Oak is what sets it apart from many of it rivals in Bath. It is the embodiment of what you see is what you get, and more often than not that is a jolly good time.
The pub has sun trap beer garden, is dog and children friendly and has a small car park at the rear. On several evenings during the summer months you will often find some of the locals cooking up a treat on the BBQ in the garden. A strictly bring and cook your own feature.
